Barca trip 5th - 11th May

Postby mob » Fri Apr 24, 2009 5:40 am

Hey,

Im finally making the trek from Brisbane (Australia) to Barcelona to watch a match live!! got my ticket for the barca - villareal match on the 10th. Will be in the city from the 5th - 11th and would be keen to get any tips on travel, accomodation etc from people who know/live in the area. Would also be keen to meet up with some supporters and maybe watch the Chelsea Barca Champions league second leg on a big screen or local pub!

Cheers,
Mo

hey,
firstly, weclome to the forum!is this your first trip to barna (barcelona)?

if you are arriving from the airport, i would suggest catching the train from the terminal (follow the signs). once at the platform buy a t-10 for about 7euros from the machine- this will allow you 10 journeys on the very good metro & train from the aiport. the metro, minus walking is one of the best ways to get around.. http://subway.umka.org/maps/barcelona.gif theres the map.
the metro runs until late moist nights, and does not stop running on saturday nights... especially good.
the train from the airport will stop at a few stops- but the ones of relevance are sants estacio- barnas main station and paseig de gracia- near placa catalunya and the top of las ramblas. there are metro connections from both, but have a look at the map. the train journey will take 20-25mins.

for accomodation, i will need a better idea of what your requirments and budgets are .. there is a wide range from dorms to 5 star luxury

for the match, you can buy tickets online at www.fcbarcelona.com now, or you can buy from the club on the day. if you buy online remember to bring your passport and the card you booked them with. For a pre match drink, there are a few good bars on les corts- the main road next to the camp nou's gol sud. - for metro stations try les corts, badal, collblanc... or for the other side of the stadium (gol nord) go to maria cristiana, but for bars go to one of the first three. for the more rowdy area go to bar la jarra- opposite the mini stadium under some block of flats, it can be a bit intimidating for people not used to it.

there are many places to go watch the game on tv- most bars will be showing it, and will normally have a few culers in there, so that shouldn't be too hard. i will be at stamford bridge :D

i will post some more information in a bit, have some work to do now lol

Yeah take the train, its much cheaper than the bus and takes you, in my opinion, to a better place as you come into the metro station. For accommodation check out the hostels or cheap apartments.
