Dani Alves Replacement?

Postby Silvztoon » Sat Jan 22, 2011 5:42 pm

Ok guys, honestly it makes me sad i even have to make this thread, but as the situation is, we doesnt seem to value the best right back in the world, and if we dont improve our offer, he will indeed leave. It would be a huge loss, Dani has been immense for us every single game since he came from Sevilla, yes he might be a little greedy, but he is worthy of same payment as Puyol, Pique at the least. Anyway, the way things look at the moment, and if things do go the way i fear, Dani will be walking out of Camp Nou come summer 2011.

I for one, like to look towards the future and imagine a Barca without the charismatic brazilian. Dani cannot be replaced, he is the best at what he does, ther is NOT another Dani out there at the moment. But, there are a few guys that might be able to grow, and perhaps over time be a suitible replacement.

Imo here are the prime candidates:

Gregory van der Wiel, 22, Ajax.
This kid got talent, you all saw him in the World Cup, he is still very young, but i can see this guy turning into a world class right back come the next few years, question is, does Barca have time to let him develop?

Bacary Sagna, 27, Arsenal.
Underrated right back, will definately run as much as Dani, lay down immense miles every game for the Gunners, and he also has a strong physical presence, perhaps even a tight stronger than Dani defensively. But, he wont come cheap, Wenger will demand shitloads. And as we know, Barca are poor right now.

Rafael Pereira da Silva, 20, Manchester United.
An absolute wonderkid, already Sir Alex first choice on right back despite his young age. Will be literaly impossible to lure him away from Manchester tho, where his twin brother also plays. Perhaps the only one of the candidates that can truly replace Dani over time imo, but he does have anger management issues, as he always gets silly red cards.

Philipp Lahm, 27, Bayern Munich.
We all know him, Lahm has been around forever and still havent past his 30's, hes played his entire career so far in Germany and i think he is dying to go abroad. Quick, agile, solid with both left and right foot. The most likely replacement imo.

Adriano Correia, 26, Barcalona.
Still havent got a real chance to showcase his abilities with our team, at his best i know he can be impressive, as back in his Sevilla days, question is can he take another step up and truly replace Dani?

Well there you have it, feel free to suggest other candidates and share your oppinions on the ones already mentioned.

A Barcelona without Dani Alves is fast approaching :(

He doesn't suggest anywhere to buy 'another' Adriano, he's clearly talking about the one we already have.

van der Weil - Maybe, still too young and unproven in a decent league. (we don't need a Royston Drenthe)

Sagna - Are you kidding me? Does this guy have an assist to his name? Our fullbacks play as auxiliary wingers 60% of the time. We don't need a poor man's Abidal.

Rafael - Like you said, going nowhere.

Lahm - Yes, but unlikely to leave.

Adriano - He's already playing for us. He's no Alves, but he hasn't played much or had time to gel. He's fast and pretty sure he has a better shot than Alves. My pick.
I'll give you a memorable quote after you pass me that beer and shot.

It will be pathetic if board doesn't renew Alves contract. Seriously, buying interior player for 20 M plus giving him a contract of 4-5 M. What a business this is :o Anyone remember how we lost Eto'o and how many cash we paid for his replacements? Stop being cheap and give Alves his money. If newcomer Villa is getting 7.5M Alves should also gets it. He is best RB in the world, he only earns 3 M now. Alves must stay.

Lahm makes 9 mio/year in munich and just renewd his contract there until 2016. just as schweinsteiger and ribery did, i don't think he'll leave anytime soon.

Although schweinsteiger is sometimes seen playing with t-shirts printed with other names and clubs a transfer of any of the 3 would be very unlikely. so no lahm as replacement.

van der wiel is a good option in my opinion and i think he's already good enough to compete with the best...i mean he played in the team that made the world cup final...

For me it's Van der Weil as a rightback. Or we need one side to have a more attacking full-back so maybe someone like :-
Gareth Bale
Fabio Coentrao

but I think Van der Weil can be great at Barca and he's very young and fast!! This and he would increase the average height of the team too!

Gareth Bale is a winger, and Fabio Coentrao is incredibly overrated.

The options I see as replacements for Daniel Alves is:

Cesar Azpilicueta - 21 years- Olympique Marseille and Spain
Rafinha - 25 years - Genoa and Brazil

Or we could go the La Masia way

Martin Montoya is the most likely of our own players to claim this position, with Marc Bartra as the next on that list.

Ilsinho is quite talented seeing his offensive abilities, however when it comes to defending he is completely worthless and even worse than fellow brazilian Marcelo.

perhaps you was watching a different Ilsinho then? 'cause when it comes to his defending, hes at least on par with his fellow brazilians maxwell, adriano.

and frankly, to mention him alongside marcelo is laughable.
