Champions League 2009 - 2010 Last 16 Draw

Postby IndoCulé » Thu Dec 10, 2009 1:48 am

Alright people, finally group stage is done and like many others I'm looking forward to the draw on Dec 18. Let's have a look which are the teams that have qualified:

England: Arsenal, Chelsea & Manchester United

France: Bordeaux, Lyon

Italy: AC Milan, Fiorentina & Inter Milan

Spain: Barcelona, Real Madrid & Sevilla

Greece: Olimpiakos

Germany: Bayern Munich & VFB Stuggart

Portugal: Porto

Russia: CSKA Moskow

Who are the likely opponents?

Bayern Munich, CSKA Moskow, AC Milan, Porto, Lyon, VFB Stuggart & Olympiakos

Please vote and state the reason why you want to face that team. Please also state the reason why you don't wanna face that team. Happy voting! :D

So we could possible draw Lyon, AC Milan, Olympiakos, Bayern Munich, VFB Stuttgart, Porto, Cska Moskow. Would like to see a match against Porto, Olympiakos or Stuttgart, and maybe Milan in the next round...

Stuggart or Olympiakos would be ideal. I would add CSKA in that group, but Moscow in February...even with a return leg in our favor it could be tricky.

Bayern, Milan, Porto, and Lyon. Bayern might be tricky but Milan, Porto, Lyon are all attack minded teams that generally use the 4-3-3 and we tend to do well against them.
I'll give you a memorable quote after you pass me that beer and shot.

stuttgart seems like best choice, we would probably beat Olympiakos and Lyon aswell.
i would definately want to avoid CSKA and AC Milan, Bayern looked really sharp in game vs Juve.
Porto is okey choice, but they are always dangerous in CL.

I voted Milan simply because they are the best in the list. And I'd also like Roonie to have the standing ovation after his years of contributions to Barca.

Second team I want to face is Bayern. I wish to see them humiliated at Camp Nou again :P

Milan. I think we would beat them quite comfortably, it would be nice to see Ronnie again, too.

+1

no AC and CSKA, freezed to death at Moscow winter, no thanks.

I am fine with the rest, BM is a better team now with Van Gaal in charge, he might know a thing or 2 about barca so it will be tricky

I picked Stuttgart. I would like to take on the best available at this point, but we played Bayern and Lyon last year in the CL and I'd like something different. AC Milan would of course be a nice matchup as well for the sentimental reasons surrounding Ronaldinho, but they might be a tricky draw when they get all their pieces moving in unison. The luck of the draw determines a lot due to the attrition of the such long domestic seasons and I think avoiding this type of clash would be crucial to our long-term success in the competition. Porto would be another tough assignment but would still be better than another trip to Russia in the cold.

Through it all, any match-up will be influenced greatly by our ability to bring back healthy players from the Club World Cup and ACN tournaments and to get the team working together like we have the past 3 weeks.

Stuttgart please. Not too far away. Any game at this point will be difficult but if we can go through without going into an extra gear, that would be great.

Stuttgart. Molt bé! I don't think we could have got a better draw to be honest!

Madrid/Lyon will be interesting. I think Lyon are capable of putting Madrid out.
