Sandro Rosell

What's he done wrong this time?

The paperwork for the loan had already been submitted by the previous administration as far as I'm aware. Rosell decided to bring it up in a press conference and since he was inheriting a situation he didn't like, decided to present it in less favourable terms. He could have spun it entirely differently but instead had the worlds media speculating that Barcelona would be the next Portsmouth! It's this sort of behaviour that I was worried about with Rosell's presidency. Hopefully Rosell can move on from this sort of thing soon. It has to be said that Laporta should never had let this cash flow problem happen in the first place where newspapers can write headlines that wages are not being paid. Ridiculous oversight!

so now it seems there was creative accountancy from the last board, profits are now loses. no doubt the new board are using creative accountancy too ..only negative, ...the bigger the loss today, the bigger the gain in profit during their term, ...until the next board re-audits rosells books ...lol.

big discrepancy all the same, around 80 million, even if its only a 1/4 of that it means a profit of 10 million is now a loss of 10 million.

makes you wonder why they want to buy cesc @ 45m, when they could spend half the money on a defender, and give some of the youth squad a chance.

personally i think rosell buying cesc will cost the club 100's of millions in the looooong long term.

when foreign clubs poach the barca kids, and the kids only doubt is their dream of playing for barca, the kids parents will say 'look what happened with cesc', this is your best way of breaking in to the team, 'go make a name for yourself abroad'. that gets up there pretty quick @ 40m per repatriation. buying cesc sets a bad precedence and example for the youths on so many levels i think he should be banned ...lol.

I agree with this to a certain extent, but of course Barca are only buying back the cream. The majority of kids who are too anxious to wait for their chance will never get their chance at all...

I prefer buying back our academy products rather than "foreign" players; at least we know they will be able to play in the Barca way when they get here. There's less chance of making an expensive purchase that never gets with the program.

Of course, it's a shame that they can't all be Xavi 8)

the trouble with the cesc deal is barca weren't legally allowed place cesc under contract with a massive buyout clause at the age of 16 in spain, yet arsenil were in england, so we lose the cream, which is the only thing we care about getting poached, without getting any transfer fee,

...unless the law has changed or barca have figured out a way of legally getting around the child labour laws, the only way to keep these kids is carrot and stick, chance of first team football and potential of being barred if they run away. lets not forget he had to wait till the following year to really break into arsenil when veira got hocked, so whatever his motivations were at the time, the reality was initially he left barca for money.

now hes homesick ...id tell him to go to espanyol ...lol. it would make all the future 16 year old stars think twice when they cant wait for a sports car.

ill support him if/when he comes, as he was only a kid, cant blame him, its a board directive issue, not sure it would be a successful election manifesto though, ..."vote for me and i will ensure cesc never plays for barca" ...nill points ...lol.

That's the thing, he was just 16. His parents would have had a lot of influence in the decision to move abroad.

Not a good start for Rosell. I really don't have faith or trust this guy. He's intentions so far is to make Laporta's reign look bad.
I'm really not liking him so far. I mean what has he done so far since taking charge?

Sell Toure to City (very bad decision, we should keep him just like Arsenal keep Cesc), Ukrainian flop for 15 M (good decision), let Marquez go for free (very bad decision, he will be good as a backup on CB, DM), let Henry go for free (good decision), buy Adriano (let's say it's good decision), didn't make official offer for Fabregas, didn't buy replacements for Marquez and Toure. Not to good first month of Rosell presidency.

He is not allowed...Laporta wants to go into proper politics anyway...

Right, i'm going to have to do it again...

Firstly, Rosell has done what he said he would do before the elections and get the accounts audited by a 3rd party... something which should be done anyway.

Toure and his agent (agent mostly) wanted to go so we had to sell him really... no point in having party wanting to go..

Henry.. as far as im aware we recieved some sort of money for his departure (i think possibly from henry himself)

Chrqggurntsty... Remember who signed this idiot in the first place.. Laporta & Txiki.. was obviously not up to the job and i for one am glad that we got at least something for him.

Marquez... Was not good for us... would have liked to have got a bit of money for him.. but this would have been pennies. More than worth it for his service over the 7years.

What people on here don't seem to understand is that in order to improve the club they have to fix what is wrong with it atm... mainly the finances... as believe it or not the club as a whole is more important than just the football team. If laporta & co hadn't ****** up in the first place then it would have been easier.
Once again (as with most politicians .. only look at Obama for this) the new administration are having to sort out the mess of the old one caused.
