Worlds Best Manager

What's he done wrong this time?

Marcello Lippi has been a success at almost every team he has worked, although the fact that he has never worked outside of Italy would downscale his worth i suppose?

Sir Alex didn't get to work outside GB does that downscale his worth. If he didn't have it to excell outside Itally he wouldn't have scored one of the best International records for any manager. 4 consecutive CL Final appearances, 5 CLF appearances in total and one WC.
The fact that he has faired so well against international opponenets (2 of his CLF opponenets were Spanish: Real, Valencia) and in a much tougher circmustances than league games rebuffs your claim of downscaling him for having not coached outside Italy.

Well it almost happened. He was supposed to come to Barca before we opt to take Van Gaal. Only reason Capello did not manage Barca is a contract he signed when he left Madrid saying he must pay if he should manage any other team in Primera. It was today in Sport i think.

True, you can only judge him on the teams he has coached, and to the majority of which he has brought success.

I don't know how Juande Ramos can be claimed as one of the elite? - His achievements thus far have been great but he needs Champions League experiance.

Another name who i feel deserves a mention is Carlo Ancelotti.

Absolutely. 3 CL finals in the last 5 years winning 2 of them, great achievement.

Truly amazing, but i feel the Serie A consistency has lacked.

Lippi may be the only manager who had been consistenly creating the magic in both tournaments

Capello may have won the title for Real this season but he lacked on personal level. His performances (his team) where probably the worst in his career. He wouldn't be much welcomed in Barca and the defensive style can't get applied.

Does it matter how he plays? as long as he wins his teams trophies, it should not matter. He won a trophy with every team he managed. and he is hard on his players, and let them work. Had he managed Barcelona this year, You would see all our players very motivated, and you will not see Ronaldinho skipping all training sessions.

True but you know for yourself that in Barcelona no coaches who play defensive football are allowed. That's the philosophy, regardless of the trophies.

Yes, he is very strict I love that. We need that on our players. I don't know, maybe Capello would be a good choice but he is staying with Real for some time for sure.

If you ask me, I already said - Juande Ramos.

Capello is a good manager and surely one of the best but like Wenger he's more of a manager who is very strong in one aspect and fairly forgetable in many others. He may have a great league record but his CL record is rubbish. Appart from his win against us and CLF appearances the year that followed - where he had one of the greatest Milan squads of all time - he produced nothing with Real, nothing in his return to Milan, nothing with Roma nor Juve nor Real up till now. Tactically he's not on the same level as Mourinho, Lippi or Benitez as highlighted in his poor CL record where in most cases it is more often that the coaches brillance wins it for the team rather than an indvidual spark from a player. Neverthless he's head and shoulders above FR, and surely deserves to be crowned champion.
