24 - Yaya Toure

De Rossi doesn't want to move, nor does Roma want to sell. Let's leave it at that.

Of course de Rossi is better than Yaya, but he just isn't a possible transfertarget for us as i see it, even though he would be a great player for us on DM.

Anyways, bring on Yaya!

I think that if we press the matter they would abid to our demands. Chivu didn't want to leave either, and now he's in the middle of a transfer fiasco.
Roma have been intersted in Motta and Eddy. Players whom I suppose are surplus to requirement. Henceforth we can include both or either in a swap deal + cash (10-12million) and have one of the best DM guarding our back four  Earlier this season there have been reports of a mega deal for the Milito brothers. Maybe we should direct this cash flow to the double swoop of Chivu and De Rossi.

You can't compare Chivu to De Rossi,
De Rossi was born in Rome
came trhough the ranks at Roma,
his father is a fromer Roma player and coaches Primavera della Roma

"My dream is to stay at Roma for life and I think this thing will happen," De Rossi

While Chivu came from Ajax a few seasons ago. The way I see things you can sign some players and some you never can cause they don't want to leave ever like Maldini and Totti. I belive De Rossi to be in that group.

Totti and Maldini are talismatic for their clubs. They are the captains and literaly are what Puyol is to Barca. De Rossi is a true roman, but he's still not up there with those you mentioned. And with all due respect Roma are not Milan or Barca, even with the bright future that seems ahead for them.
All I could is that you never know unless you try. We wouldn't loose anything if we bid for him, but we would win a lot in case we are successful in our biding.

We may have made an inquiry but been dismissed. Or maybe he was not believed to be suitable?

Suitable :o As far as I was concerned, we were looking for a DM. Which for the past season has been our biggest liability. So when a true DM is dismissed in favor of a CM who is not half as good. That's sheer brillance, taken to new hights

Just one question: Where was Yaya Toure playing in season 2006/2007?
I know Kolo Toure but not Yaya Toure. I supose he played in England?

He has some defensive and attacking qualities; likes to push foward with a DM beside him. I wouldn't call him an enforcer but maybe has the potential to be one.

We don't need a player who has the potential to be a DM. Motta had it and look at him now. What we need is a player who has the potential to become one of the best DM in the world. I don't this obstination with Yaya if he is not a natural DM. Can he really solve our problems? I am fearing that we may be doing the same mistake again of neglecting our defense. DM is crucial to use, given our attacking style and the fact that we rely solely on one player to do all the dirty work.

I share the same sentiments, but Toure could be a hit. He can get stuck in the tackle, pass the ball, offer some strength that our other midfielders can't provide. The sort of tenacity that players of his kind have....

We're expected to sign him this weekend for around 10 million euros.
