Anderson Hernanes de Carvalho Andrade Lima, better known as 'Hernanes', is a full Brazilian international, having been capped by Dunga earlier this year.

An attacking midfielder, Hernanes is under contract at the Brazilian champions until 2011, and given the length of his deal may cost a pretty penny.

Indeed, Barcelona, who are apparently looking for a replacement for the exit-bound Deco, may have to stump up around €10-€15m for the 23-year-old.

According to the 'Folha de Sao Paulo' newspaper, Sao Paulo's president Juvenal Juvencio is aware of Barça's interest.

His club, however, would not be due the whole transfer fee as the player is owned equally by his club, a sports marketing firm named Traffic, and his agent.

Club manager Mauricy Ramalho said, "This is our best player, so we must be aware that his destiny is not to stay here.

"He's a young player, versatile and very strong. We're all clear on the fact that one day he'll end up in Europe, but until this happens we'd like to enjoy his play for longer."

barca allready bit on him and he replaces Kaka in the national team.

and he's not only a fast attacking player, he can defend and recuperating ball also, (his first position was a defencing midfieder)

Brazil is playing against Paraguay at the moment. Hernanes is sitting on the bench and if Dunga gives him a chance to play I'll be glad to write about his performance. Brazil is playing really bad football, defensive-minded formation. I'm quite positive about Dunga placing Hernanes in the squad sometime in the second half. Dani Alves is not even on the bench; i don't know why but this is a purely retarded decision by Dunga. I hope to see another goal from Paraguay who are really playing some nice football. And Diego is really dreadful.

Barcelona chief Txiki clinches deal for Sao Paulo pair Hernanes, Alex Silva

Barcelona sports chief Txiki Begiristain has sensationally clinched the double signing of Sao Paulo pair Hernanes and Alex Silva.

DiarioSport says only minor details of the deal need to be ironed out before the move is rubberstamped.

The pair will move to Barca for a combined fee of £18 million and have both agreed personal terms over four-year contracts worth £1.5 million-a-season.

While in Brazil, Begiristain also held talks with Palmeiras for defender Henrique, who is available for £5 million. Barca will move for the player in January should Gabriel Milito fail to fully recover from his knee injury in time.

I feel he has the potential too be a very good player but it will take a couple of seasons for him to develope.
He is a diffrent type of player then Moutinho, who is very good but I dont think we need.
He is also diffrent to Xavi and Iniesta I feel he could offer something and I would like to see him here but not for some excessive amount of cash since I dont see him as a starter, yet atleast.

Barcelona Continue Hernanes And Henrique Talks
The last AM to be linked with, not much information about him, but he's been linked with Milan and Inter. He doesn't seem to be much of a goalscorer (although that may change), no info about his defensive skills or aerial ability either (but at least he has some height).

Appart from Montolivo (best option so far IMO) and Hamsik (though his attacking skills may be questioned), I can't really think of someone who could take on Deco's seat and do a moderate job. So if Hernanes is any good, maybe we should know about.

Now that I've watched the highlights, I can't say that he's anything fancy. Good but not spectacular (after all I am judging based on his best highlights of his entire career). Still he is the most decent option we've got linked to so far.

I think that we should seriously consider Montolivo's card, he is on par with Hernanes and Deco when it comes to passing and skills, is way more prolific in terms of goalscoring capabilities and is more toughly built than both of them + he already has honed his skills under the catenaccio.
