Ok the thread for the Madrid elections because it interests me and should interest you too. It always pays to know your enemy.

Hopefully Gio will give us an honest and objective summery of what is going on so far.

   in my favorite section @fcbes

well basically we have 5 candidates

1- Villar Mir-Sainz

these are Perez men a big business man (Villar) & the ex-Rally fan favorite champion Carlos Sainz
, they almost have the edge of the penyas votes since perez used Manuel Fernando(current board memeber/ex-Perez employee/slave) to threaten them to vote Villar or else lose all the benefits (free tickets,money..etc)
they have about 10000 votes(through Perez Penya's) which could be a big amount in the election considring the 2004 election only 20000 voted

they kept everything in the shades so far, Sainz (a very popular figure in the club) had an ambitious agenda by bringing Laudrup to take over in a similar fashion to Laporta-Rosell-Rijkaard.. but that seemed to go in the garbage can after 5 current board members joined them & the Villar Election campagin took a different approach .. they are currently nicknamed the "continuista" you can sense the meaning they will continue Perez era
however the only thing they said so far that they will sign Lippi after the WC after claiming Capello in the begining then Sven then Wenger)

2- Baldassano
Current Teka president, old member of the club & have a vast experiance in losing the elections each time with a laughable number of votes 0.7 % in 2004 elections

mainly his coach as announced is Sven

3- Palacios
he is playing on the violin of old glory , old players.. his campagin includes Camacho ( :butthead: ) as a sporting director, Del Bosque as the main coach & Michel as Castilla coach, he want a core of Spanish players.. however after recent media attention towards Calderon agenda.. he sent Camacho to Italy to try to persude Milan to give him Kaka.. Gilliani practically showed him the door (which i relate to his sweaty nature & by default Body Odor) saying Kaka is not for sale.. same happened in Juve... however the image shown to the members is that Palacios does not have any clear direction what is next.. for a very spanish core to trying to clone Calderon campagin
the players requested by Del Bosque (who is the main coach for 2 candidates) are
Caravalho
2 out of 3 DM's from Diarra,De Rossi & Marquez
2 Wingers Robben & C. Ronaldo
1 striker Rooney (i'm guessing this was fabricated for election purpose)

4- Calderon
the most notable campagin covered by the press for one reason , he feed them with rumors
Calderon a lawyer is a current board member & he was the one who led the turn on Fernando Martin back in March from the Perez camp
He hired Mijatovic as his sporting director promising (another version SIGNED PRE CONTRACTS)
a bunch of Juve Players (Cannavaro ,Zambrotta,Emerson,Zlatan )
Kaka
Boulharouz (sp)
Robben
the coach Capello

i think Kaka bit is similar to Perez figo.. i doubt we have the money for Milan to let him go & personally i'm suspicous towards Calderon

5- Lorenzo Sanz
our ex-president from 96-2000 Simple & clear.. the guy has a track record of building a winning team & getting a good /great coach.. Real won 2 CL's under his managment & for some people the core of the third CL in 2002
his coach in Del Bosque , he is not making a move towards any player apart from what Del Bosque wants (the list i posted above with Camacho)
and personally i prefer Sanz over anyone.. but Perez would everything in his powers to make him lose..they hate each other guts
----------------------------------------

that's about it.. there is a current affair that will be decided next thusday which is Vote by mail. all candidates objected to letting members vote by mail (which was the main reason for Perez re-election ) there was rumors & court case last election claiming Perez fabricated these votes
the commitee will meet to decide after complains about this process from all candidates except Villar (no suprise  )

well recent polls indicated Calderon ,Sanz & Villar to be front runners.. Baldassno (although it would make you happy  ) is out of the picture completely
Palacios needs to be more clear & stable .. his image is shown to be more trying to do what others are doing after Camacho Italy trip turned to a big failure when they announced his is going to sign Kaka then 2 days later it was known that both Inter & Milan wasn't bothered to sit long enough with him  can't balme them really Camacho gets on my nerves

Palacios in my view would be the best man for the job. His backroom staff would make a very good team with bags of experience. Camacho however would look like a bit of a fool if he went back to the club that treated him so badly.

Interestingly enough, it would appear that the most likely next manager for Madrid is going to be Sven as he is practically mentioned by all the candidates although not as first choice.

Updates on the situation would be appreciated and thanks for the post.

Oh, I believe that the accounts at Madrid have been made public, could you enlighten us as to what they revealed?

I think Sven is out of the picture completely Sunny, there is not enough trust around Baldassano or from the candidates in his ability after being discredited all the time in the English press

the accounts are not yet for public knowledge but after paying everything that is left to be paid(Salaries..etc) we are left with 50 million Euro overall
I don't think its an issue considring the club long term debts are zero .. the short term debts of this season should be paid in July. and i doubt if they do need more money any Bank in Spain will be reluctant considring the late Valdabes training compound & the amount of income generated each year

Capello is also leaving Sunny, Ancelotti signed a pre-contract back when Martin was around.. Scolari contract ends this summer, Van Basten the same.Laudrup is free ATM waiting for the elections & his assitant is taking Spanish language lessons, Lippi son & agent at the same time gave the green light for Villar since Lippi wants to get away from Italy internal events ATM

I thought Capello had already said he was not interested and the same for Ancelotti.

Which of the candidates promised Wenger? Like that is going to happen!

Capello is a close Friend of Moggi , Battiga... both left the club.. he is acting in charge of the team pending the situation.. if you think Capello ambition is to coach Juve under these circumstance you don't know the guy well my friend.. today the investigators filed their report.. now everyone is expecting the decision which varies from Second division to points deduction & banning the people involved forever... he will leave this summer once things are more clear in the next 10 days

Ancelotti already has a pre-contract with Real Madrid (known fact) and it carry a penalty if he wants to back down 2.5 Million Euro.. the only thing remaining is to see if the winner will want him or not.. if Milan & Carlo wants to stay the clause is bound to be paid

Wenger issue was lost in translation for the first news conference by Villar-Sainz
Sainz said the next coach will have control over everything in a similar way that Wenger has in Gunners, when the press asked him if he meant Wenger he replied we are working on it ... i can honestly say no one approached Wenger

Is Capello the answer though? Won't he just bring in the old boys and the aged from Italy? What will happen to your precious Castilla?

Ancelotti might be the answer but what you really need is a Spaniard in charge.

I'm not surprised 8)

Zoney Laudrup did not sign with anyone yet since leaving Brondby

Capello depends on the candidate wins...in the end you have to admit he do deliver results.. i would prefer Carlo... but nothing beats Del Bosque for any Madrid fan
