A place to discuss national teams & competitions

8 hours to the trip. A long road. Can't wait. Everything is buzzing here. Atmosphere is going to be great. Apparently we're going to drink Birra Korca and have a little party before the match all the fans from all ethnic parts of Balkans. It's going to be hostile for the Dutch but the result also depends on how well our boys play.

I think that may have some small part to play.

I heard Sneijder is doubtful. I hope ferryokek (sp?) or some other Dutch fans join in so we can discuss a bit about the match. Van Basten said that if they win aginst Bulgaria (2-0), a point against us isn't going to be bad. I think they know fully well that it's going to be hard and we have to capitalise on that and not sit back.

I heard that Baric might leave for Austria. Any new faces in sight?

Totally overran Bulgaria, gave them a lesson of football. But also missed a lot of chances. Berbatov scored the equaliser in the 87th minute and then guess what? We miss a flipping penalty in the 90th minute! We deserved to win but in football you have to capitalize, you have to score. We had 3 100% chances but completely missed the target and although looking at the match we fully deserved a win, we have to face it. You just have to score.

Well that was a while ago. He was apparently asked by their FA to coach them in the Euro 2008 championship and he responded well. But I don't know now, things have changed. He's built a much stronger Albania and it may seem an exciting prospect for him to stay, probably because Austrian FA regretted asking him. I think he's going to say for sure after the WC 2010 draw. If he sees there's a chance for us, he'll stay. Mind you we have a great Albanian coach, but a corrupted FA. If they brought him and gave him time, he'll make us a contesting team. His name is Bylbyl Sokoli.

After beating Serbia 2-1 , the U19 team qualified for the European championships with a 0-0 draw against Lichtenstein.

I didn't watch the game and I heard Serbia dominated after going 2-0 down in just 10 minutes, you can call that a lucky win. But you should have qualified and because we did, that makes us more than 'good' than 'lucky'.

Did I even sound intense? :o

I thought that was your honest opinion and because I didn't watch the match and at the same time heard something similar to "Serbs dominated after going 2-0 down", I could assume you were right and as a result, we were lucky to win. But then I said that if you qualify for a competition, you have to be more than lucky, you have to be good enough. And you didn't achieve that, so basically even though in that match we weren't worth of the win (if that's the truth), we're still better than you because we're in the Euro championships and you aren't. It's a great achievement for us.

P.S. C'mon, you know I'm rational and neutral.

He's a shite footballer and a lazy asshole. He's currently lost somewhere within the Lazio reserves and was kicked out of the NT after a true coach came in to lead us. Close relatives to one of Albania's best players, Armend Dallku (Vorskla, Ukraine), told me that when the players came to train, he ordered a cup of coffee and drank it slowly while watching others in the training fields.

One of his good points however was his nationalism. After being called mierda Albanessi (en. s*** Albanian) by Mihajlovic, he kicked his ass in the tunnel and later Mihajlovic apologized. Apart from this, everybody wanted to punch him in the face for the sportive contribution that he gave to the NT.

Lost 6-1 away to Romania. Well that just sums up what happens in third world countries where corruption goes deep into sport other than everyday life.
