I know what you're saying but he's still Scottish. I look at it from the point of view that if I were in his (probably handmade) shoes I'd bugger off to warmer climes and keep my money off the tax-man and this lousy government too.

I just feel there is so much potential there - or there certainly used to be - and he has not utilised it. I always like an underdog and to me Coulthard is your perennial underdog....I live in hope of seeing him do something outstanding.

Do you remember when Damon Hill was driving for Williams? Coulthard was Williams' test-driver and a few race insiders said he was going to be the next BIG thing.....they didn't say when though :D .

i must say DC is probably the most over rated driver ever. How he managed to stay at McLaren all those years is a complete mistery to me.

He's actually a very talented driver - but just doesn't show that talent too often. He's another one whom I think suffers from a crisis of confidence.

If DC had the equivalent nerve of Schummacher, Montoya or even Eddie Irvine he would have been world champion by now. I just think he's too much of a chicken at times and doesn't push it to the limit when he should.

He's in too much of a comfort zone now and seems to have settled for what he's got. I just long for him to take a brain-storm and suddenly go out and TRY for once.......like I say; I live in hope.

Popeye, watching DC these last few years and again today, despite his excuses, he is not a RACER at heart. he wants to be one, so much, but he just cant do it. Falls into same bracket as Rubens for me.

He was Second to Mika and then young Kimi came along. That was his chance to be No.1 for a big team and he couldnt/wouldnt take it.

loser in my book

dont want to ruin this for others so going to tread carefully here. think i need to fully check the rules behind qualifying laps and not completing them for this season.

so many changes yet the main faults to me still exist

As I said, he's got himself into a comfort zone now. He was once a racer but has decided to do just enough to get by.

I thought that when Mika left McLaren that DC would seize the opportunity too, but he obviously didn't want to. Shame really as I believe he is well capable of being a great racer/driver.

You have to admit that todays drivers aren't fit to lace the boots of the likes of Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, Nikki Lauda, Kiki Rosberg, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Gerhard Berger and Graham Hill.

Now they were RACERS!!! And bloody lunatics the lot of them.

spot on mate. no where near today with it. the thing being, there are some good drivers and if they just had the balls to go head to head it would be great.

Montoya has echoes of the past about him. I see him as someone chomping at the bit just wanting to be unleashed. He's the most exciting prospect I've seen for a few years - and wee Alonso too.

exactly, they are dying for the moment someone says, right, gloves off racing. they would make it so much more exciting to watch if they would just let it happen

yeah thats what i dont understand. Ms time didnt change everyone elses did. so did he just not complete a lap. i,e take it easy on the engine all the way round knowing he has to use it at next race. complicated i think.

also with tyres. they supposedly have one set for the race, now if it rains they can change. does that mean if it drys out they have to put original ones back on or do they get to use new dry tyres.

???

I have to admit I didn't pay too much attention to the rules when they went on about them.

One engine has to last for 2 race weekends apparently. What happens if it blows??

And the same set of tyres has to last the WHOLE race......what about punctures.

Looks like the Nanny-State mentality has begun to pollute F1 too.
