Villa And Silva Are Going Nowhere - Valencia VP
Manchester City are unlikely to prise David Villa away; Barcelona and Real Madrid will not be able to attract David Silva in January, Valencia's vice-president has stated.
Valencia's vice-president has insisted that David Villa and David Silva will not be leaving the club to ease the financial situation in winter transfer window, but admitted that a couple of fringe players may be sold.
Los Che are reported to have had to work out a repayment scheme for their huge debt and have begun by agreeing how to pay back around €40 million that was due by the end of this month.
While the club insist that that the financial problems are not as bad as reports have suggested, the Spanish media believe that it will only be a matter of time before they have to cash in on their star names.
Villa was strongly linked with Manchester City, who are being connected with the majority of Europe's top players, while Silva has long been admired by both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Now Valencia's vice-president, Fernando Gómez, has stated that neither player will be going although he did confess that some other players could well be allowed to go.
"Villa and Silva are not going to be leaving Valencia," he was quoted as saying by El Confidencial.
"There are the possible exits of (Nikola) Zigic and Hugo Viana, but that is because they are players who need to play because here they have not had opportunities."
Zigic has been the subject of interest from Espanyol, Racing Santander and a numbe of English clubs, while Viana is looking to leave to play regularly.
