Seems that every time a new member registers they just disappear?

This as been going on far too long, they sign up say hi and then don't bother posting.

From what I know new members are being poached to go to another Barca forum which I won't name but I'm sure people know what forum it is already.

Something really needs to be done to encourage new members to stay and post more in this great forum.

The forum right now is just the same old names posting away while new members are being poached away every time they register.

I want this forum to be more active even when there is no football or when football season is over. We the community have to keep this forum alive and active.

So I appreciate any suggestions that might help the forum improve.

Thanks.

I totally agree with you. I have also noticed this and it is frustrating as I really like this forum and the members. I log on everyday and also on Tapatalk and get bummed out when there are no new posts.

i will try and think of ways we can retain new members. When i think of something i will make sure to share my thoughts.

Well it's starting to bug me because I don't want this forum to die. The other forum is always active with heavy traffic.

Need to get this forum back in its feet again.

Problem is, at the moment, nothing is really happening as far as Barca are concerned. It gets a bit boring just posting or reading transfer rumours or players we'd like to see at Barca.

I've got to admit, I'm struggling to find the time to look after the forum or even post on it these days. I just log into chat whilst the game's on mainly.

I understand what you are saying here but I am sure we can get some off topic discussions going.

Europa Cup starts next week so I am sure discussions around that will happen (also join the fantasy league I created). And not to mention I am sure we will be talking about the olympics this summer.

But yes we still need to get discussions going in the off season, may it be about football or something else.

do wonder why some people register and then disappear, maybe they are just testing the water. and why go elsewhere anyway, there is only ONE Barca forum.

Well my way of engaging the community is failing. No one is joining the fantasy league i created for the Euro Cup

Another suggestion is a face lift to the site. We had previously discussed changing the banner, maybe we could do more than that to show new comers that this forum is kept up to date and show a sign of activity. Not sure how, but one idea i had was to maybe add a 'page skin' or wallpaper on the sides of the 'css' coding or whatever (sorry i am no web designer and just no very basics about site building)

Let's keep the thoughts flowing and discussion ongoing on how we could retain members.

The first logical move is to switch from phpBB to something better, like vBulletin. phpBB is so last decade! The next one is to make a couple of new skins, add features, free downloadable stuff like match torrents, etc. I've got a bunch of ideas. good ideas which I'm not able to share here as I don't want them to be stolen and end up being put to practice on the other side. Marcel and Pabz know what they are and know they are very doable.
The thing is, either we stop talking and do something, because we talk about this every summer and nobody does anything, either we continue to lament ourselves and hope for a miracle.

agreed, forum looks outdated and visually not that good. Another thing i have always wondered is if we have too many sections on this forum, alot of those can be placed together, there are parts of forum where last post is from last year, keep it simple and clear, there are topics which are popular and topics which are not. If new member joins us now, all he sees is a dead forum with loads of topics mostly responded months ago. Not a good sign.
I also think (as a marketing manager) that we need to find out the real purpose of this forum and why our forum should be different from the rest. What is the competitive edge we have (or we should create).
In a sense we are on the market for english speaking Barca fans. Due to the clubs recent success, i am pretty sure there is no lack of people interested in this type of forum. But we need to have something that makes us different from other forums and gives us some edge.

I'm well aware that this may seem slightly hypocritical bearing in mind I've barely posted over the course of the summer (due to a number of different factors) but the board seems to be dead every time I've popped on. The team just had two games against Hamburg and Raja but there was hardly any chat about it at all. Even the whole situation regarding Javi Martinez possibly moving, the fact we're chasing potential CB options, or Afellay possibly moving? Little to no mention on here, which made me a bit disappointed.

I went on the other Barca forum the other day FWIW, and whilst it seemed "busier" it felt too cluttered and most members came across as pretentious know-it-alls. I much prefer the crowd on here, and it'd be nice to see this place pick up a lot more.
