Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva

Some reports suggest that Barca are preparing a swoop for the brazilian... He impressed this year for Milan and perhaps is seen as successor to aging Puyol.

Having played Mascherano at CB for 5 games, it becomes clear we are desperately short at the back. Anyone seen this guy play?

This guy is pure class. Stand out defender in Serie A last season and imo slightly better than Pique; faster, more agile, almost the same aerial ability, two good passing feet and a eye for the game. But this guy wont be cheap. Highly doubt we'll be able to sign him this summer.

Thiago Silva stays with Milan

Thiago Silva's agent has denied his client wants to leave AC Milan this summer after reports in South America had strongly linked the Brazil international with a potential move to Barcelona.

His agent Paulo Tonietto told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Thiago Silva is happy at Milan. He only recently signed a new long-term contract. Had he wanted to leave, he would not have extended his contract with Milan until June 2016.

"There's absolutely nothing regarding those rumours, he is very happy with the Rossoneri. His only thoughts right now are on the Coppa America and winning the Champions League with AC Milan next season.''

The 26-year-old centre-back joined AC Milan from Fluminense in 2009.

Can you guys imagine playing 3-4-3 and the back three are puyol pique and thiago silva. Secure at the back and you have players who can come forward to good effect when teams park the bus namely pique and silva.

AC Milan hero Marcos Cafu isn't surprised Barcelona are keen on Thiago Silva.

Thiago Silva has been linked with the Nou Camp outfit for over a year and they are still monitoring his situation at San Siro.

“It’s not wrong for Barcelona to be thinking of Thiago Silva,” Cafu, formerly of AS Roma and Milan, told Mundo Deportivo.

“He’s a great player.

“I respect Carlos Puyol, who has had a wonderful career with the club, but Barcelona’s defence would be sorted out for years to come with Pique and Thiago Silva.

“The latter can also play in midfield, as he has done at Milan with Massimiliano Allegri,” continued the World Cup winner.

“We are talking about a player who has it all – aerial ability, technical skill, speed and power. However, Milan won’t want to let him go…”

Bump.

I dont get the fuzz about this player. I mean.. He is great ok, ill give him that.

BUT we have both Mascherano, Puyol and Pique

Mascherano outclassed every single defender in la liga last season.

If he were early 20's then I would have advocated a move for him, but he is fast approaching 30. The transfer fee that PSG have just splashed out on him is far, far too much. He's not that good.

I assume he's paid handsomely at PSG so I doubt we'll ever sign him.
