Thiago Silva stays with Milan
Thiago Silva's agent has denied his client wants to leave AC Milan this summer after reports in South America had strongly linked the Brazil international with a potential move to Barcelona.
His agent Paulo Tonietto told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Thiago Silva is happy at Milan. He only recently signed a new long-term contract. Had he wanted to leave, he would not have extended his contract with Milan until June 2016.
"There's absolutely nothing regarding those rumours, he is very happy with the Rossoneri. His only thoughts right now are on the Coppa America and winning the Champions League with AC Milan next season.''
The 26-year-old centre-back joined AC Milan from Fluminense in 2009.
AC Milan hero Marcos Cafu isn't surprised Barcelona are keen on Thiago Silva.
Thiago Silva has been linked with the Nou Camp outfit for over a year and they are still monitoring his situation at San Siro.
“It’s not wrong for Barcelona to be thinking of Thiago Silva,” Cafu, formerly of AS Roma and Milan, told Mundo Deportivo.
“He’s a great player.
“I respect Carlos Puyol, who has had a wonderful career with the club, but Barcelona’s defence would be sorted out for years to come with Pique and Thiago Silva.
“The latter can also play in midfield, as he has done at Milan with Massimiliano Allegri,” continued the World Cup winner.
“We are talking about a player who has it all – aerial ability, technical skill, speed and power. However, Milan won’t want to let him go…”
